Excursion to the source of the Alcantara river and surroundings (TREKKING or MOUNTAIN BIKING)

The name Alcantara comes from Arabic and means passage over the river through a bridge, built by the Romans near Giardini Naxos.

Our excursion starts from the base camp located in Floresta: following dirt roads through beech woods, chestnut groves, streams and centuries-old maple trees, we will admire breathtaking views of the Aeolian Islands and Etna, with the possibility of meeting horses, cows and wild boars along the way.

At an altitude of 1,360 m above sea level, I will show you the source of the Alcantara river. At the end, in the company of hikers, we will have a picnic with a view of Floresta.

After an altitude difference of almost 900 m and about 2 hours of hiking, we will return to the base camp.
